I had tired many different gadgets to julian hard veggies like beats and carrots, only to return them and waist my time. I wanted to make carrot pasta and this one is just right! I julienne the carrots and saute them in coconut oil, then add onions, spinach, chicken, or whatever. Yum yum! This simple little slicer is easy peasy!! NIce and sharp, has two sides, one for julienne and one for peeling or wider slices. I am very happy with this sweet little peeler. It does the job, easy to clean, and a good price. Thank you!
I have noticed in the past year or two there seem to be tons of either computer generated reviews here or ones that people are paid to write. This product is okay but by the "customer" reviews you'd think it was amazing. I did not find it easier to use especially with peeling, and it leaves tiny little ridges on the vegetable or fruit that I really don't find attractive. Personally just the the fact that it needs to be held like a paintbrush and not a knife was not my thing.
The quality is fine, it was nicely packaged and they included a cute little refrigerator magnet. I always appreciate nice packaging and something like a thank- you note or little whatever included. I would buy from Deiss again but just not this peeler.
My new best friend in the kitchen. I make a homemade soup with julienned veggies and this little critter is amazing! I usually spend around thirty minutes preping the veggies with a chef's knife but I whizzed through in about ten minutes with this little guy. It's like having a mini mandolin in your hand. That said, it needs to be handled with the same care because the little teeth/blades are super sharp. Care needs to be used when cleaning and I recommend storing it in the product box and away from kids.

I used it for the first time this week and was pleasantly surprised to find that there's an actual peeler on the other side. I clearly didn't pay close attention prior to purchasing.

Not long after the product was delivered, I received an email from the company giving a user tip. It was to apply a good amount of pressure of the peeler onto the vegetable, while holding the vegetable firmly.
Not only does it work like a dream, it looks nice. It fits right in with most of my other utensils/tools/appliances. It's also small. This matters when there's so many tools on the market and drawer/cabinet space continues to get limited.
I'll definitely be buying this as a gift for my cooking friends!
I used one side to peel carrots and the other side to julienne. I also julienned green onions and bell peppers! The bell peppers, I kept whole and ran the tool down the side several times.

2015This is such a handy kitchen tool. I like to make a cabbage salad with chicken in it and sometimes I add carrot for some color. When I would grate carrot on my box grater, the shreds would be too limp and would stain all the cabbage orange. I found this tool on Amazon and decided to try it. It is perfect for salads! The tool is so easy to use. The blade is very sharp. I am so happy I found this kitchen tool!
Deiss Pro Dual Julienne Peeler is very sharp tool. Metal guards and sharpness is dangerously sharp and able to make Julienne peel out of toughest vegetable such as carrots. I like Julienne for vegetable salad and fruits slices to put into a pie. Serrated blades are super sharp. Be careful. It has potato eye remover on one side. I really enjoyed using on carrots and cucumber for salad and cooking with mushroom, onion, and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Useful with making topping for asian noodle dish.
Peeler:
It peels perfectly... it's not like other peelers that peels too much. This one peels and barely removes extra from the bottom surface!
Its smooth! Little things on side work great. Small one on the side removes eyes and larger one cuts grooves.
Bought it in February 2015 and it still sharp! Excellent blades.
If you peel too fast or too close to the tip of let's say a beet you may scrape your skin but no bleeding or pain.
Julienne Function:
Like anything when you get towards the end of whatever you are peeling it gets difficult BUT if definitely spiralizes good. No complaints.
DEFINITELY RECOMMENDABLE! Blade is still sharp, peels and spiralizes GREAT!!! Worth every penny.
Both the julienne and vegetable peeler blades and the 'eyes' at the sides are extremely sharp, which is good. But please be aware that the so-called julienne cutter does NOT cut vegetables into classic, four-sided julienne strips: instead the strips are similar to the results you would get when using a grater, only they are the full length of the carrot or other vegetable. I found this very disappointing indeed.
I have uploaded a photo of the 'julienne carrot' I made with this tool and 2 photos of what julienne strips should look like.
I hate julienne cutting anything. Takes too long. This thing took months to arrive and jullienne cuts most veg pretty well... But not as well as I'd hoped. I don't regret the purchase. It's a high quality tool.
