I have connected this to 4" ducting and a low pressure high volume fan mainly for wood turning and wood work .
Not so good bits - the reduction in size from 4" to the hose size on the unit (2" ish) is quite dramatic and does restrict the flow (my fault for not thinking about that before purchase) - the fittings are all a bit difficult , everything needs sanding , reducing or gluing, however I have a wood lathe so I just made my own , it just makes the process a bit of a flaff
I had intended to leave it as a permanent part of the dust extraction system however in practice I'm connecting it as I need to and using it more as a shop hoover .
Good bits - I am getting near zero wood chips , shavings or dust coming out , I am using clear hose so you can see large quantities going in and nothing of note coming out of the top - its not expensive ( little more with the required barrel , hoses , fittings and clamps ) simple with no moving parts and looks robust
on balance a very good product but I do wish I had spent the money on the bigger one
Got this to replace a diy version I made a while ago from a old council cone lol. Although the old version did the job I did have to keep cleaning the filter when cleaning the workshop. The finer dust would block the hoover filter after a few weeks use. I've had this new version in for a while now and it's a far better setup. I have it connected to a large 200 gallon drum on wheels and its brilliant. Since the swop I haven't had to clean the workshop vac filter once. Love it. Well made and well designed. Highly recommend it.
It sucks... which it's supposed to do. But it doesn't filter all that much. The idea is the cyclone is supposed to spin out the particulates from the air, but it really, really doesn't. You will need a filter between this and your vacuum, and you will end up changing that filter frequently as it gets clogged. In other words, not really worth the money and hassle.
World well, easy to set up , would invest in a couple of better quality jubilee clips, but overall, well pleased
Not easy to find fittings to suit, but once set up, and mounted on a 10L plastic paint container, worked brilliantly. After some use in my workshop, I checked the container, which was about half full - ie about 5L of debris. The vacuum cleaner had possibly about 10cc of fine dust on it's filter, so very efficient.
