We were hoping to purchase a premium product, as it is described (and priced); a well made metal egg slicer. What arrived instead is a plastic, metallic painted item, with a pre-loosened cutting wire.
The item is as flimsy as the cheap plastic cutters. We thought getting a metal one would hold up better, but this item is not metal, it only looks metal in the picture.
While it has a good design for multiple cut angles, this will not hold up to prolonged use and we doubt it will last long, even with seldom use. I could not imagine relying on this for any high volume egg slicing. Once one write gets loose, the others go, and the full egg is no longer cut, so makes it useless.
It almost looks like this plastic replica was copied from an actual metal design which possibly had better engineering or quality in its hinges.
Made in China, too. Should not be an issue, but unfortunately is.
Used for one week and the wires are already bent out of place and so loose they can’t cut all the way through anything. Definitely not the sturdiest kitchen gadget - I’ll splurge on the nicer one next time.
I expected this to be stainless throughout. It's plastic with stainless wires. Works, but it's not the heavy duty item I prefer.
Cuts egg well but you can't get it out afterwards. Have to take a knife to push every bit out. Waste of time. I would save more time cutting with a knife.
I bought this because it said the base is cast aluminum (Material 2 in the description) It is not. It is cheap plastic and very thin stainless steel wire. If you are going to get a plastic egg slicer there are ones on here for half the cost. This is not a cast aluminum and steel device.

thought it was stainless.....it's plastic..........
This was a gift....they use so must meet expectations!
It says it can slice mushrooms and strawberry's, however, after 2 uses, it was toast and I had to return it for a refund. It looks really nice and sturdy, however, that is about the only thing good on this.
