I have used this only once so far to crack open 3 eggs. One of the three eggs I cracked with this broke on the wrong side which resulted in eggshell fragments falling into my mixing bowl (see photos) as well as the egg contents not coming out of the shell. I was hoping to use this to replace my plastic e-z cracker in an attempt to rid my kitchen of all possible plastic. I'm disappointed so far but, I'm not giving up just yet. The device feels heavy and well constructed; it's a shame the design is flawed and it breaks the wrong side of the egg.
Update: I used it again the next day and it did the exact same thing again so I am returning mine.
The only reason I gave it a 4-star rating on "Easy to use": The first egg I tried to crack ended up with the round piston pushing a hole into the eggshell instead of cracking the egg open. Solution: Don't squeeze the handles gently. Crack That Egg!
Other than that, it's easy to clean, and seems to do a good job.
When the egg is cracked the shell gets stuck. Also at times the egg yolk spills
