Pros: I just recently started making a lot of egg salad and decided to purchase this device. Let me be completely clear, it's great for slicing or cutting your eggs into 6ths.
Cons: The egg piercer. As a new egg eater I had no idea what it was. The safety on the piercer is cheap and can turn to the off position easily. The piercer also looks like a button. And if you're a rookie like me you can push the button and get 1.5 cm of steel point in your thumb.
Overall: I'd still get this egg slicer again.The egg piercer isn't a deal breaker. I don't even know why I need one, but I'm sure its functional. Just make sure everyone knows it's not a button. It could definitely be a thumb piercer instead of an egg piercer.
I really don't care to leave reviews often but I am going to have to buy a different brand because this one is so annoying. The part that slices into eights does not get through the entire egg. You are left with an egg that is sort of stuck which you have to pull out and then there is a bit of the bottom of the egg left in the slicer. And the way it's engineering it doesn't come down evenly on the egg so you are always slicing it at an uneven angle.
I will admit I have a fear of accumulating gadgets in my kitchen but this one is awesome! I love how quickly it slices boiled eggs, mushrooms, strawberries, and kiwi! I haven't used the piercer on the front but I tried the decorating knife attached in the middle back and it made cute eggs and strawberries. I don't know that I will necessarily have a use for that, but it was included.
I purchased this item specifically to slice whole strawberries. As it was marketed as an egg tool, versatility is a vital aspect of the decision to buy. EXTREMELY EASY TO USE!! Finally got to use. IT PERFORMED TERRIFICALLY!!! USED IT TO SLICE ABOUT TWO POUNDS OF SOFT TO FIRM, MEDIUM TO LARGE STRAWBERRIES!!! One issue: Wire on slicer starting to wear. I will lose one of the wires very shortly. So, if you will use it for eggs alone, it should last a while. If you are planning to use with multitude of fruits, it wont last long. See how 4 from left wire is already stretched out! Wires need to be of higher gauge. Abit heavier. That's why durability is only 3 stars. :/ :(
I bought an Egg steamer Dash Go Rapid Egg Steamer, and needed something to cut up hard boiled eggs. It works like a charm. No more messes. I make breakfast bagel sandwiches with ham or turkey and cheese and it's great with sliced eggs, so easy and quick to make. Very solid and well made kitchen gadget.

This four-in-one tool slices eggs or mushrooms on the right side, turns them into moon-shaped wedges on the left side, pierces the end of eggshells with a sharp little needle, and comes with a handy garnishing tool for creating your own edible masterpiece. To prevent accidents, the egg piercer can be locked in the off position, keeping the sharp needle below the surface. To use the garnishing tool, just put the egg in the scalloped cup on the left side, slide the trowel-shaped tool into each of the six openings, then gently pull off the top of the egg for a "how'd you do that?" effect. I sort of can't remember what I did without this item. Cut eggs like a savage with a knife, I guess. Now that eggs are free on weight watchers, this little gadget is getting a lot of use.
I am doing my review over ( sept 2015 purchase) and I give this 5 stars now ! it's gone in the dishwasher, I've used it for small apples, even onions and it still works great. Of course it is great for eggs ! I recommend! !
This is a great little hard-boiled egg slicer. It seems pretty durable...plastic and wire. Has some great slicing modes: Length-wise (6 slices); and Cross-wise (11 slices). There is also a third mode that requires a push-slice zig-zag effect (2 halves of an egg). A push-pin is provided to poke an egg prior to boiling. The color is white.
Easy to use and clean. Bigger as has two cutting options. Sturdy.
