The peel takes a little practice and technique to smoothly slide your pizza in and out of the oven. What made it really easy for me is to use cornmeal under the dough so the pizza doesn't stick to the cutting board where i assemble it, and it doesn't stick to the peel when I load it in the oven. I don't use cornmeal on the stone or the peel.
If there is no cornmeal or flour under the pizza dough, it will get stickier over time and eventually glue itself to the surface. All the toppings will be dislodged as you try to jam the peel underneath.
I'm glad I stuck with it through the initial frustration, because now I'm a regular pizza slinger. People are even starting to think I know what I'm doing :)
This paddle is great! I have made pizza at home for years, and have enough burns on my hands and forearms to prove it.
Sometimes, I have had accidents either placing or removing pies from the stone in the oven. My kitchen is small, so I never considered bought a paddle due to space constraints.
This paddle has a folding handle, so it stores away easily. I sometimes forget I even own it. The overall construction is quite sturdy and the handle locks firmly and stays cool.
The paddle has a slight contour in thickness, so it is thin with a tiny bit of flex on its curved leading edge and gets heavier in gauge towards the handle.It is easy to slide under things and heavy enough to support anything that fits on it.
It comes in other sizes, but I recommend the Extra Large. It easily handles anything you could fit in a standard oven without being much more difficult to store than the smaller ones.

Seems wobbly even when locked and not carrying anything. The product came with the handle treatment peeling off out of the box. Expected better quality
Rating 5 stars: Exceptional product. I was looking for 4 criteria: 1) Largish 2) Sturdy 3) Fold-able for easy storage 4) Dishwasher safe. This item is PERFECT!! AND, not terribly expensive. EXTREMELY sturdy. Blade DOES NOT BEND. Same width as my pizza stone. Cannot recommend this highly enough.
This thing is a lot nicer than the other paddles I've used. It folds up to store with my pans, and I love that. My last one had a static handle that was a nightmare and always in the way. It's very lightweight so it's easy to control, but it does have a bit of give, so it's not solid like a rock like some heavy duty paddles. I prefer the extra control and lightweight, though, because it's easier (for me) to quickly slip this under the pizza without disturbing it.

Product looks good and feels good. But the handle locking mechanism (sliding collar) does not work well. The locking collar has to slide over part of the handle to use peel and clearly no one tested it after assembly and before it was packaged and shipped. I had to use some pliers to squeeze part of the handle together and also pry open some of the locking collar in order for it to work. It still does not work well/smoothly and I have to work at it to get the locking collar to go over the handle. I did not return it because I am able to make it work and given what is wrong, I have no expectation the next one would work any better (part variation/stack up issue). Once the collar is in the locking position the handle feels sturdy and works fine. I suspect I may be frustrated with this every time I use it ... but it does work, feels solid and should perform its intended function for years to come.
I really like this folding peel. Sturdy and not too heavy. The folding handle makes it easy to store. Thin enough to easily slide under pizza or bread. Mine had a slightly rough bottom front lip that I thought might scratch the pizza stone or counter top. I smoothed the lower edge with careful use of a knife sharpener. Now smooth and does everything I hoped it would.
Size was perfect for large pizza. Does bend. Pizza MAY slip off if overloaded.
Good quality product. Just a tad heavy for my liking as a pizza peeler.
Big enough for a family size pizza but the collapsible handle makes it easy to store and the handle design makes it sturdy to use. Great item!
