DO NOT USE!! These are a safety hazard. There is here are no specifics where to place your hand when holding, or which way to face when using
You would think that keeping your hand and fingers "safely" on the solid yellow plastic and never touching the blades would be safe.... NOT TRUE!! I cut my thumb very badly the very first time I used it! The only thing that stopped worse cut was my thumb nail... THE BLADES CIRCULATE THROUGH AND ROTATE DOWN OVER THE "SAFE" PLASTIC AND WILL CUT YOUR FINGERS/HAND EVEN WHEN ON PLASTIC, FAR BELOW THE BLADE AREA!!! I wish i had thought to take a picture of my thumb after it happened, but I just barely went online almost 2 full weeks later, so a bad picture of the healing slice is all I have.... and a bad memory for my 3 year old granddaughter hearing me yell out in pain and bleeding all over her banana!! TERRIBLY MADE PRODUCT!!
Love love love this banana slicer! I use for making crepes and it speeds up the cutting process a ton! The thickness of the banana cut is perfect.
I did read reviews about the dangers of this item, so I carefully studied it before I used it the first time and came up with this easy hack...label with a sharpie where/how to hold it...with your thumb in the thumb rest and NOT at the slicing area. I think if they marked these like this in production it would make a much safer product that everyone would love!!
EVERY THING ABOUT THE SLICER IS AWESOME. I COULD NOT WAIT TO GET IT IN BEFORE CHRISTMAS FOR MY BANANA PUDDING. I WAS TOTALLY IMPRESSED. LIGHT AS A FEATHER. EASY TO CLEAN. THIS WOULD BE A GREAT GIST FOR ANY ONE.
