About 3 years ago I saved up and bought a Thermapen for about $100 because the reviews were excellent. I have used it ever since, and love it. But this week I saw an instant(?) thermometer on sale at Amazon for $10.99, and I wanted one for travel. So, I took a chance, and got it yesterday. (Pic below- the new one is red). As soon as I got it I wanted to test the speed and accuracy. I tried it, side by side, on some bread just coming out of the oven. They showed the same temp within a second of each other. Tried it again this morning on boiling water for my tea. Exactly the same temp in exactly the same amount of time. I don't know if it will hold up long-term, but I'm really happy !
I am a big fan of America's Test Kitchen. They do an extensive amount of reviews and testing of kitchen products. One of their reviews was for a meat thermometer. They recommended Thermapen which cost about $100. I little too steep for my budget. One of the reviews on this ThermoPro thermometer was from an owner of the $100 Thermapen and did a direct comparison between the ThermoPro and the Thermapen. They stated their performance (accuracy and speed) was nearly the same. So for a nearly 10 to 1 price difference, I went with the ThermoPro. I was not disappointed. It works great from reading meat temperatures to reading hot oil temps the thermometer works great. I would recommend this thermometer to anyone.
Bought my first one on 6/8 and liked it so much I purchased a separate one for baking on 6/30. Tonight I was trying to take the temperature of my chicken and realized one entire column of ink (lights?) was out. A friend used it this week when he was over so I thought maybe he dropped it so I pulled out my baking one and same thing. An entire column of ink was gone. I'm the only one using that one so I know it wasn't dropped. It's pretty pathetic that both thermometers barely lasted three months. Not worth the money IMO.
Hey out there. Just be aware that you get what you pay for. This unit lasted just 6 months before the metal probe/tube came uncrimped from the plastic base. It worked fine when it was whole, quick temp indication. But even though I was careful in handling it and cleaning it, the fundamental cheapness of the product overcame my TLC. So, avoid it, pay a bit more and get a unit that won't get the come aparts. Oh, when I tried to reinstall the probe, no worky. Big big numbers on the display!!!!
Liked the simplicity of use. Quick readout. Multi angle prob helps a lot too.

UNFPRTUNATLY I just went through my 3rd thermopro tp03a. First one quit working within the year. I still liked the function so went ahead and bought 2 more since th price was just $12 well 3 months later and now the 2nd and 3rd have ALL quick working. Tried changing batteries and still no luck. The last one turns on but is off by +10 degrees when compared to 2 different style of thermometers which read identical at 150F. Thermopro now reads 160F. I loved these but apparently it's time to look for a different thermometer. Wish I kept the warranty info, and I can't find any company contact number online.

I wanted to use this digital thermometer to measure the internal temperature of bread loaves that I bake every week. It has a nice thin temperature probe that helps to avoid large holes in the crust which detract from the finished product.
However, the probe is not accurate. It reads about 10 degrees F low. I verified this via boiling water temperature. There is no way to adjust the calibration. Ten degrees is significant when baking.
Wasted money.
Worked for about a month, then started to display either 400+ temps or XX.X.
Anyone have an idea of how to get a replacement for this under warranty?
I like this thermometer. One of the things I like best about it is that it takes a regular AAA battery. I will not have to buy a much more expensive "button type" battery like my last thermometer used.
This is a long term review as this was bought May 2018 and used almost weekly since.

I wanted just what my title says something that is small, something that is accurate and something that I can depend upon. I quickly came to enjoy this little thermometer as it ticked all my needed boxes.

Some general thoughts:

- This thermometer sub $20 bucks stands up well and accurate next to a friends $150+ Thermapen !!

- I find this sort of flip up type of probe to be quite safe.

- Because how small and easily pocket portable this is, I bring it along to friends houses when we all pitch in and prepare dinner parties.

- Very small battery drain. In the aprox 1.5 years we've had this and the amount that we have used this, the original AAA battery is still holding strong.

- Included AAA battery.

- Very accurate. I used this along with what I also consider an accurate laser thermometer and they both gave the same temperature reading.

- The ability to switch between C and F is always nice. ( small button on the back of the thermometer )

- I did give this a 5/5 for 'Easy to Read' as the backlit display is a nice touch in dim areas.

Helpful, is how I hope you find my review
Ours lasted 9 months with light use. The plastic hub that attaches the metal probe has cracked in a few places, so the probe no longer remains attached.

It worked well while it lasted and still reads temperature, but we will discarding it.

I wouldn't recommend this and will not buy again as I'm sure it will break in time in the same place.
