I see a few confusing reviews so let's be clear I bought a corn peeler to remove corn, whole kernel from cobs. This thing works perfectly, super small learning curve to get the pull started but not bad, cuts evenly all the way, lt creates the corn I only wish I could do with a knife... my cans of corn look good right?
I have tried several items over the years to cut corn off the cob and always reverted to using a knife because nothing else seem to work. I used this for the first time and I am sold! Easy, clean, and removes all of the corn!
I have previously only used a knife to remove corn from a cob and I always feel like I leave too much on. With the corn prep peeler it was extremely easy to get all the corn. The head is curved so it aligns with the cob and the downward motion had very little resistance making removal effortless.
I had a heck of a time peeling a potato with this. The plastic is lightweight and obviously the cutter is not sharp enough.
If you're anything like me (and I hope you're not, for your sake), traditional peelers can be a pain to use. The surface area of the peeler itself is too small, and you have to hold the fruit/veggie in an awkward position to peel it correctly. This leads to a lot of half-peeled apples and potatoes slipping out of your hands or, in my case, numerous instances of peeled fingers.

This one is more comfortable, allows for a better grip on whatever you're peeling, and cuts down on mishaps. So you should get it.

As I mentioned in another review of a different similar product this is the other one that I purchased that is my favorite. It is very easy to use and gets all the way down to the cob getting all of your kernels. For swipes around the length of the cob which takes about 15 seconds and you're done. If I could give more than five stars I would. If you look at the picture the other one I like is in the background. You can't go wrong with either one of these very sturdy products definitely recommend
Very satisfied with this corn stripper. My husband and I stripped 200 ears of freshly picked corn in no time. It is definitely a messy job, even using this tool, and I'm glad we undertook this project out on our deck, where I just hosed everything down when we were done (I also wore an apron, which I highly recommend). There is a definite learning curve, so don't get too discouraged when you start out. After a couple of attempts, we were able to find the best way to hold both the ear and the stripper that would not cut too far into the cob, yet still get as much of the kernel as possible. Honestly can't beat this for the price!
Cuts corn like slicing softened butter. Highly recommend.
I've used Oxo Y Peelers for many years now and am disappointed that, for whatever reason, the design has been changed. The blade is marginally narrower, the handle is smaller and is of smooth plastic rather than the slightly softer rubber grips and therefore it slips in use.

Also, the blade is only used one side whether you're left or right handed and cannot be turned to use the other side unless it's used "cack handed" and pushed rather than pull toward you.

Why change something that has always worked?
Why didn't I buy one months ago ! Been slogging away using what I now know to be a virtually blunt heavy duty peeler & this new one is a revelation. Lightweight, sharp & goes through butternut squash rind like butter. Love it !
