I think the people who said it doesn't get the greens dry are missing a tiny, easy to miss step in the process. The directions say to unlock it by sliding the small black piece away from the pump knob. The knob still pumps if you don't slide that little thing back so you wouldn't know to do it if you didn't read the directions. Sliding it back releases the knob to full tilt and you get a better result. Pushing hard on the stop button will also sling the last bit of water off the greens.

I've owned several salad spinners and none of them completely dry the greens. I just dump them out on a dish towel for about 15 minutes and then do the paper towel/zip lock bag thing. They keep about a week and a half that way.
This sleek looking device may appeal to those who place more value on kitchen feng shui than efficacy. I'm a semi-professional athlete, and I couldn't rev this thing up to enough RPM's to shed water from a greased zucchini. (That's a joke, so don't tell me that the spinner wasn't designed for zucchini. Stuff just lays in the center at max speed rather than being pinned to the sides by centrifugal force. If the salad doesn't get pinned to the sides, how on earth can you expect the water to spin off? Another thing -- if you look at the display pictures, the first picture shows the basket brimming with greens. False advertising! The spinner drops way into the center of the basket, so if you fill the basket more than half way in the center, the spinner will pin it down, preventing the basket from spinning freely. This product definitely does not deliver, but your dinner guests will cast admiring glances at the spinner and tell you how pretty it looks.

The good news is that if you leave the damp greens in the bowl long enough after spinning, enough water will drain off by gravity to allow them to air dry.
I saw this being used on America's Test Kitchen, they love OXO...thought it would be a good one...

It's a DUD! Quality is top grade but the design is nuts. It has a sort of pump action plunger to make the basket rotate which it does but at low speed, I don't care how many times or how hard you mash on the plunger, it never gets going fast enough to spin the water of your wet leafy things. What goes in wet and comes out wet. On top of that, the plunger mechanism is in a sort of cup that protrudes into the basket, squashing down your wet stuff in the middle further making hard to dry it when it's stuck under the plunger thing guaranteeing that will never get dried. A lot of people bought this thing but it doesn't dry! I don't get it! I don't leave many feedbacks but I had to say something about this contraption! Pathetic!
Initially I was impressed with how solid this spinner seemed when I un-boxed it, and I thought maybe it was worth the rather steep price. However, I encountered two issues. First, the lever that "locks" the pump got stuck (re-engaged) every time I pushed down on the pump, so I had to stop and disengage the lock lever before I could push the pump again. Second, the spinner simply can't spin fast enough to sufficiently dry the greens. No amount of pumping gets the basket going any faster as it seems to have a max speed of too slow. The greens were still very visibly damp after several rounds of spinning. I will be returning this Oxo Salad Spinner, and looking for a different one.
I had the original OXO salad spinner for many years and loved it. When it finally was inoperable I thought this new and improved version would be even better. Not! I actually hate it. The greens don't get nearly as dry, no matter how many times I spin them. The push button brake takes extra hard pushing to stop the spinning compared to the old OXO. After washing, the parts take super long to dry in my dish rack. And when I dropped the top on my tile floor, a large chip shattered. I am still finding shards around the room. The old OXO was dropped several times and survived. The one positive I can say, setting the top into the base is much quicker than the old one...it settles right in without fussing.
I am now researching a different salad spinner. Thank-you Amazon for providing useful reviews.

Description

Style Name:Clear/White Salad Spinner | Design:Spinner

A new spin on our classic design Before the introduction of the OXO Good Grips Salad Spinner in 1998, crank or pull-tab salad spinners were considered high-end products. Some people even used the spin cycle of their washing machine to dry lettuce. Our easy-to-use Spinner transformed the tool into an everyday kitchen essential. Nearly 20 years later, we revisited the Spinner to make some updates while keeping the top features and original inspiration: a children’s top. With a modern design that complements contemporary kitchens and an improved brake that stops on a dime every time, we think you’ll love our new spin on the classic design. Dry salad greens with a simple press of the soft, non-slip knob. The non-slip base keeps the bowl steady on the countertop, and the updated built-in brake button stops the Salad Spinner for unloading. The basket doubles as a colander, and the lid comes apart for easy cleaning.

My lettuce is still wet and ends up limp. This seems to be a poor quality spinner. Do not recommend.
This spinner does NOT dry greens!!!! Even after spinning twice you absolutely have to use lots of paper towels and even that doesn't do the trick.

VERY DISSATISFIED! USELESS. Have had it for months and have tried using it different ways. Will give up and buy another brand.
We read all the reviews and this is what was the best one the reviews said so....NOT. We thought at first it was ok but after 5 months of frustration and constantly spinning and spinning our lettuce only to have it wet always, we are returning it. I am hoping we can still return it because it was the most expensive one too!
This works just great! Very powerful spin which leaves your salad dry and crispy. Sticks to the worktop too - which is a good plus. (So much better than bunching up lettuce into a teatowel, going out into the garden and spinning your arm around like mad - which I've been doing for years! Although I do miss the exercise ...)

Salad keeps fresh in it for at least two days as well, which is handy as I always make too much, and used to waste loads. Now we have salad two days running, or use it the next day in sandwiches, etc. (I think it would last longer than two days, actually, but haven't tried.) So it's a money-saver too!

Only downside for me was where to store it, as it's quite big, and my cupboards are full. I solved this by finding space for just the lid in a cupboard, and storing the bowl itself in the 'fridge. Yes, you do have room! Just put all your unprepared salad stuff inside the bowl. (Give it a quick swill round before using, of course.) Job done!
I got this recently and am very happy with it. I used to have a system of of washing salads in a colander and placing that over a large 'pyrex' dish to catch the drips. the only trouble was that it was time consuming and annoying if I wanted the colander for other purposes whilst it took time in allowing the water to drip through. Now I can spin salads etc dryer in seconds. This spinner is very well made, as are all products made by 'OXO' that I have bought in the past. I cannot yet state if it will be prone to staining by items such as fruit juices, or the juice of sliced beetroot, but the spinner is made of various types of plastic and so may well do. I will update my review if this becomes fact.
